Extras
Away from the keyboard, you will find me on a football field or around a race car.
American
Football
Playing for the UWE Bullet 2s.
American Football is huge at UWE. With the Bullet 1s being the most decorated uni team in Europe, the chance to rub shoulders with such talent was really exciting for me
Coming to UWE, I'd never played a snap of football in my life, but the idea of trying something completely new in the best place for it never sounds like a bad idea.
Unlike regular football, AF is much more like a game of chess, where every player has a specific role and every play is a plan that only works if all eleven carry it out. It's where I practise the team side of engineering: communicating clearly and trusting the person next to me to be just as dialed in as me.
Eleven people, one play, and no one gets to coast.
Formula
Student
Universities design, build and race a single-seater.
Formula Student really threw me into the engineering deep end. Sitting in meetings with 4th year electrical engineers discussing can bus messaging, precharge circuits and wiring looms, as a cs student, felt like I turned up to an exam I hadn't revised for. But it. became the perfect environment to soak in as much info from people who were a lot more in the know than I was.
Learnt about fluid dynamics, CAD design, CANBUS, Circuit Design, Data analytics.
It brings together some of my core interests quite nicely: motorsport, hardware and data. My telemetry and race simulation projects come from the same place.
On the driving simulator.
PC
Building
I love hardware.
What will and always will be my primary love in the world of tech: hardware. From a young age I've loved tinkering with gadgets and that lead me to pc building
That sprawled off into many custom builds for friends and family over the years.
I love a clean itx build though younger me fell a little too hard into the whole RGB craze.
Car
Photography
I photograph cars, I love the details.
There's so much beauty in the automotive world and its always good to appreciate not only the craftsmanship but the time that went into producing the toys we all love.
